The neighborhood of Thorncliff is located in west Edmonton. It is situated between 170th Street and 178th Street, just south of 87th Avenue. Edmonton’s West Edmonton Mall is located right across 87th Avenue from Thorncliff. The first homes in the neighborhood of Thorncliff were built during the 1960s, according to the 2001 federal census. A total of 17.2% of the homes in Thorncliff were built during this time. Most of the homes in Thorncliff were built between 1970 and 1979, when 60% of the homes were built.
