The neighbourhood of Prince Charles is found in north west Edmonton. The neighbourhood was named after the Prince of Wales. Prince Charles was originally subdivided in 1905, according to the City of Edmonton’s map utility neighbourhood description. 12.8% of Prince Charles homes were built before 1946, with 70.6% built between 1946 and 1960, according to the 2001 federal census. The last 16.5% were built between 1961 and 1980. According to the 2005 municipal census, single-family homes are the most common type of home in Prince Charles, making up 79% of the neighbourhood homes. Another 17% are duplexes, and 3% are low-rise apartments. A total of 64% of homes are owner-occupied.
