The neighbourhood of Lauderdale is located in north west Edmonton. 97th Street runs along the neighbourhood’s east side, giving easy access to Northgate Centre, North Town Mall, and CFB Edmonton north of the neighbourhood and downtown and NAIT south of the neighbourhood. The first 42.9% of homes in Lauderdale were constructed between 1946 and 1960, according to the 2001 federal census. During the 1960s, another 32.5% of homes in Lauderdale were built, with the remaining amount built during the 1970s. By the year 1980, construction was complete in Lauderdale. Single-family homes are the most common type of home in Lauderdale, according to the 2005 municipal census, and account for 57% of the homes in the neighbourhood. Another 18% is low-rise apartments, 13% is duplexes, and 12% is row housing. A total of 57% of the homes in the neighbourhood are owner-occupied.
