The neighbourhood of Gariepy is located in west Edmonton. Nearly half of the homes in Gariepy were built in the 1970s, according to the 2001 federal census, when 46.3% of homes were built. During the 1980s, another 47.7% of homes were built. Single-family homes are the most common type of home in Gariepy, according to the 2005 municipal census, and make up 66% of homes in the neighbourhood. Another 13% is comprised of apartment-style condominiums, 14% is comprised of duplexes, and the last 6% is comprised of row housing. A total of 97% of homes in Gariepy are owner-occupied.
